(KNUE-FM) Let me start by saying that I have always felt safe here in East Texas, but we hear way too many stories of people doing questionable things or saying things that are not appropriate.

The reason I bring this up is because I was on Facebook and saw a post in a local group (Hometown Happenings Mineola, TX) that caught my attention, so I wanted to make sure you were aware of the information too.

A Disturbing Encounter at a Mineola Walmart

A Walmart customer named Megan described a recent shopping trip during which old man butted into a conversation she was having with her eight-year-old daughter. The man allegedly suggested something about renting out her daughter for money.

In that moment, Megan froze and didn’t realize exactly what was said until a minute later and she was furious, as any parent would be in that situation. Although she did later post on social media that if she had realized in the moment, she would have gotten physical, gladly taken an assault charge, and even smiled in the mugshot had she realized what was said about her daughter.

There are lots of local parents thanking Megan for speaking up so everyone can keep a closer eye on their kids while out in public.

Many people also asked whether a police report was filed, and Megan is in the process of making that happen. As her adrenaline was pumping, she admits that she wasn’t thinking about that and just wanted to get her and her daughter out of the area as quickly as possible.
