Ed O’Neill Says David Faustino’s ‘Married With Children’ Revival Isn’t Happening
There may be no ceiling when it comes to TV revivals decades after the fact, but Bud Bundy from Married With Children may have come up … well, short. Despite reports of David Faustino pitching a revival of the iconically crass 1987 sitcom, patriarch Ed O’Neill says it isn’t happening anymore.
Faustino had been pitching the possibility intermittently over the last few years, noting that a legal issue was preventing Sony TV from moving forward, though O’Neill offered a doubtful update to AOL BUILD:
David Faustino pitched an idea to Sony about Bud moving back in the old house and being divorced and his ex-wife moves in, too, with his best friend and they’re struggling and Al and Peg are in Vegas – they won the lottery. And that was the idea, but I think they hit some legal problems. People who have to sign off on it wouldn’t, so I don’t think that’s going to happen. And Katey [Sagal, who played Peg Bundy] and I would only have been able to do one or two a year because we’re contracted – well, she was, now I certainly am. But it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. But you never know.
The original incarnation ran for eleven seasons, netting four Golden Globe nominations, but has Al Bundy officially flushed the remaining possibility? (Cue insufferable wooping)
