This weekend the City of Lindale is throwing a Pre-Fourth of July Celebration! Friday and Saturday the city has scheduled activities with fun for the whole family.

Friday night, the Cannery Song Writing Competition begins at 6 pm, followed by Cody Wayne at 7:30 p.m. and Jason Boland at 8:30 p.m. Entry is $20.

Saturday the fun begins at noon with a blackberry dessert contest, followed by the Lil' Firecracker's parade at 1:00 p.m. The Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest will start at 2:30 pm, followed by the Habanero Eating Contest at 3:30 p.m., and the Foot-Long Hot Dog Eating Contest at 4:00 p.m.

At 4:30 p.m., Veterans and members of the Military Branches will be honored at 4:30 p.m. Three-Legged Races for kids and adults will follow at 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively.

The Song Writing Competition Winner will perform at 7 p.m., followed by Larry Hooper at 8 p.m., and Chris Knight at 9 p.m. Entry is $20.
