It’s that time once again to celebrate the fruit that many consider and use as a vegetable — the tomato! The 28th annual Tomato Fest is happening Saturday in downtown Jacksonville.

The annual event is held in downtown Jacksonville and offers fun for the whole family.  The 28th annual event kicks off Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and runs through 4 p.m. and continues from 7 to 11 p.m. with the annual Chili’s street dance.

The Tomato Fest features a tomato-eating contest for kids and adults, tomato peeling contest, arts and crafts vendors selling their creations along with fishing, soccer and tennis tournaments and more. All the activities are free including admission, parking, concert and dance.

New for the Tomato Fest this year is the Got Talent Contest, and returning are competitions for the best home grown tomato, homemade salsa and more!

Bring the whole family to downtown Jacksonville on Saturday for a great time.
