It’s Summer, and Some Of Us are Freezing
It always happens this time of year. The weather outside gets hotter, and the temperature inside stores and office buildings gets freezing cold. But did you hear one big box store is going to raise the thermostat one degree? "Woohoo!" said women.
Guys in suits like rooms cool. I get that. You don't want to sweat in a conference room in the middle of a big power point presentation. And computers and equipment seem to function better when it's cooler in the room.
But what is a summer-lovin' girl to wear? If we go sleeveless, we're freezing cold at the office and numb by 10 a.m., which explains the sweater or a jacket that most women keep on the back of the office chair.
We've got to be able to layer up, heat up, and have the option to shed it once we thaw. Which usually doesn't happen. We're cold at the office, in stores, in church, at conferences, at the movies, and at restaurants (until we start drinking).
And it's summer! We shouldn't be shivering.
Maybe you heard that one store is raising the temperature one degree after employees complained. The thermostat in Walmart stores is going from 74 to 75 now.
Girls in tanks, shorts, and flip flops are thrilled. Walmart workers wear pants right? And they were cold enough to say something. So maybe 75 would be a good universal standard. Said women. Who could probably handle it if the default temp were 77.
Hang in there ladies, winter will be here before we know it and the buildings will be cozy warm again. In the meantime, we'll just dress like it's January.
