I've driven by the cement dolphin that resides in Tyler's Bergfeld Park thousands of times and I had no idea it had a name!

The cement dolphin that brings relief from summer time heat to so many East Texas children and adults has an official name! While watching a report on KLTV 7 News at 6 last night about the future of Tyler's most famous dolphin, I learned she had a name and a sister! The dolphin that sits in the middle of the splash pad at Bergfeld Park goes by the name Splasher!

According to KLTV, Splasher has been living in Bergfeld Park since the 1970's and was being threatened to be removed from her home of more than 40 years to make way for a new splash pad. Thanks to private donations, Splasher will not removed from the park and will live on in a new area according to Tyler City Council Member Don Warren.

At the conclusion of the story on KLTV 7 News at 6, I along with the anchor and meteorologist, Anissa Centers and Mark Scirto, learned something else about this special dolphin, she's got a sister that lives in Palestine!

It's interesting things like this that make East Texas a very interesting place to live and I applaud the donors and the City Of Tyler Parks and Recreation for saving Splasher for future generations to enjoy!

If you know where Splasher's sister is in Palestine, please let me know in the comment section below and if you've got a pic of her, upload that to the comments too, or email them to me at luckylarry@mix931fm.com.
