In Texas we know there is lots of wildlife running around at all hours of the day and night. Which is why it’s so important to stay aware when you are behind the wheel. It only takes a few seconds, and you could have an animal running in front of your vehicle. It’s important to keep yourself and your family safe in these situations.

It’s a scary feeling when you are driving, especially on the Interstate, and you have something dart out in front of you. That same situation happened while my wife was driving, and I was in the passenger seat. All we saw was this dark looking basketball shaped figure bounce under our vehicle and we heard a “clunk”. Everything was fine until the next day when the check oil light came on. That “clunk” we hear was an armadillo that caused over $1,500 in damage. Ouch.

Unfortunately, hitting animals in your vehicle happens sometimes and in every state. While you can try to avoid these instances as much as possible, sometimes they are unavoidable. But staying aware when you are behind the wheel will help you lower your chances of hitting an animal.
