This morning as I was heading out for the station, I gave Buddy, my 14 year old black lab, some scratches on the head and said "I love you, sir". Yes, I call him sir. I had a bit of an epiphany, I tell Buddy I love him at least once a day. Am I the only one who does this?

I love this picture. He can't get on the couch anymore because of his arthritis. I miss our couch snuggles.

I thought there would be an article somewhere online that would explain if there is some kind of physiological meaning for us verbally telling our pets we love them. There wasn't. We obviously love our pets or we wouldn't have or play or care for them the way we do.

I did, however, find this article on rover.com that shows us how we can say "I love you" to our dogs without really saying it.

Anyway, I know it seems silly but I just found it weird that I say I love you to him. I'm just a big softy when it comes to Buddy. I don't have kids which makes Buddy basically my son so that probably explains a lot. I love you, sir.
