Demolition Begins for a Tyler Restaurant
An iconic building has been in Tyler for more than 50 years, but crews started knocking it down this week. We're going to have to drive a long way to find that LuAnn Platter now.
Luby's announced last year that they were closing several restaurants because sales were having trouble keeping up, and the Tyler restaurant was one of those to shut down.
Even if you didn't eat there much, weren't you kind of secretly high fiving Luby's every time you drove by it because it's just so darned Texan? There's a location in Jackson, MS too, but I doubt that they appreciate the Home Style Pot Pie as much as we do. Luby's was founded in San Antonio more than 70 years ago and moved its headquarters to Houston in 2004.
Demolition started this week on the Luby’s Restaurant at 1815 Roseland Boulevard in Tyler after it operated there for 55 years. Bergfeld Realty owns the building and it's not clear yet what will happen next.
East Texas sure is lacking in the Luby's department now! There are a bunch of locations in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and San Antonio, but according to the Luby's locater on their website, the only East Texas Luby's left is in Longview. Next time you get a hankering for a LuAnn Platter, go here:
