I've talked many times about retro video games. Honestly, I could drop the retro because I grew up on those games. Nintendo, Sega Genesis, coin op arcade in the mall, that was a great time for gaming. And still is great with all the modern machines we have now.

When Nintendo released their Nintendo Classic Mini, people went nuts. It was a small plug and play system that contained 30 of the original Nintendo's classic games. They followed that up with a Super Nintendo Classic. I have both and they are awesome.

PlayStation released a plug and play box last year for the inaugural system. It was disappointing to say the least. I own that one, too.

Sega will release their own mini system in September, the Sega Genesis Mini. The initial announcements are pointing to a fantastic system. I have already preordered one.

The folks over at SNK even released a mini system for their 90's console, the Neo Geo. I haven't bought one yet but probably will eventually.

Well now, video game maker Capcom has jumped on the retro plug and play bandwagon, the Capcom Home Arcade.

For those of us who remember arcades in the local mall, Capcom had some of the best games like Street Fighter II, Alien Vs. Predator, Ghosts and Goblins and more. This plug and play machine is designed to take us back to those days.

Some folks were immediately turned off by the design, the Capcom logo with the sticks and buttons on top. Personally, I don't mind the design. Plus the sticks come from Sanwa, which are super high quality.

Sixteen Capcom arcade games will come preloaded on the system.

Some of these I have never played before so that will be pretty cool to get to check them out for the first time.

The system will also be wifi enabled for the purposes of adding your scores to the worldwide leaderboard. I'm wondering, though, if this will allow you to connect and possibly add more games later through a download. That's all speculation, of course, but would be an awesome feature.

Right now, the announcement comes from Capcom UK and will retail for 229.99 Euros, which is roughly $250 in the US. If you want to preorder it from the UK, you can get it at the Capcom Store or Amazon UK. I think I'll wait for an official US announcement but I'll get it.

It's a great time to be a gamer. Enjoy my friends, enjoy.
