‘Red, White and Blue’ Festival + Veteran’s Plaza Dedication Among Veterans Weekend Events
Veterans Day is coming up on Wednesday and East Texans will be celebrating early with events all across East Texas, including in Bullard and Longview.
The City of Bullard is celebrating Veterans Day this Saturday (Nov. 9) with an abbreviated event dedicated to the men and women who protect and serve our country. The 'Red, White and Blue Festival' will kick off at 7 a.m. with the presentation of colors and conclude with a parade at 10 a.m. Due to a tremendous amount of rain at the venue site in Bullard Thursday evening, all other activities that were planned have been cancelled. Those events include the fireworks show, flag retirement ceremony, car show, live music, retail and food vendors and entertainment. The parade is still scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, weather permitting. For the latest check out the Bullard Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
In Longview, Veteran's Plaza will be dedicated Saturday inside Teague Park. The plaza may be found by looking for the 760 square-foot United States flag flying high up on the hill.
Founded in 2014, Veteran's Plaza currently features 18 monuments. Dedication for the plaza will be Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. and will feature Mayor Andy Mack, Judge Bill Stoudt, Capt. Edward Thomas of the Texas National Guard and U.S. Congressman Louie Gohmert as guest speakers.
There will also be a custom car and bike show from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. along with music and free food.

In addition to these celebrations you may help out with Townsquare Cares For The Military Families. You may make a donation to our non-profit organization 'Townsquare Cares' which will go to help out military families right here in East Texas.
We will be honoring East Texas military families with $500 gifts for the holidays. Donate and nominate a military family and together, we could help bring a little more cheer to their holiday.
