At first, I thought it was because of the turkey shortage that was going on, but I’ve been able to find turkeys at every grocery store that I have visited here in East Texas. But I am hearing more and more people deciding to cook something else for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. What are your plans, are you serving up the traditional feast or mixing up the menu options this year?

Personally, I love the traditional Thanksgiving feast but for my wife and I it just doesn’t make sense to make a gigantic meal with it just being the two of us this year. We will still make our favorite side dishes like dressing and green bean casserole, but this year we aren’t going to make a turkey. We thought about ham, which we have done in the past, but we’re both just most excited about the side dishes.

I did see something on social media this week talking about making brisket the new official meat of Thanksgiving, that is something that I would fully support!

Thanksgiving is About the People Not the Food

As I continue to grow older, I am reminded over and over again that it’s not about the food, it’s about the people that you’re enjoying a meal with. You’re going to be making memories celebrating a wonderful holiday with loved ones, that’s really what it’s all about.

Take Lots of Photos This Thanksgiving

If you’re spending time with cousins or grandparents that you don’t see very often, I encourage you to take more photos with them this Thanksgiving. You’re never going to be disappointed that you took a photo with family members. Just remember that you can’t get this time back so enjoy every second of it now. Happy Thanksgiving!
