
When To Expect The First Freeze In East Texas
(Mix 93-1) You can already get your pumpkin-spiced latte (PSL) from your local Starbucks. You can pick up a bag of Pumpkin Spice Pretzel Crisps at Sam's Club. You can get pumpkin spice creamer for your coffee, so when is it going to get cold to enjoy all that pumpkin spice goodness, and when will the first freeze happen in East Texas?
Pumpkin Spice Season Without the Chill
That's a question quite a few East Texans are asking because they are tired of these temperatures that have us feeling like we're just baking in an oven. Our high temperatures are topping out in the upper 90s right now, and then when you factor in the humidity, it feels well over 100.
With it feeling this hot consistently, and when the kids start going back to school and Labor Day is not too far away, we start wondering about the first freeze and when it's going to get cold.

While watching Andrew Tate on KLTV 7 the other day, he reported that our average first freeze happens on November 15th in Tyler and November 13th in Longview and Lufkin.

Either way, the meteorological average first freeze and The Old Farmer's Almanac first freeze dates are close enough, and let’s hope they're right that those dates hold, especially for those who prefer colder weather.

I reported a few weeks ago that The Old Farmer's Almanac was predicting a late arrival for fall this year. Let's just hope that isn't the case and that fall will be here on time and we can experience our first freeze when we're supposed to and you can all sip on those PSLs!
