This is wonderful news, not only because we will be receiving our packages quicker, but it is also going to bring new job opportunities to our area.

The facility should be open by the end of October and should create around 100 full-time, part-time, and seasonal jobs.

How Many Jobs Will Amazon Create in Tyler?

While it’s exciting to hear about 100 new jobs being created in our area, I wonder if the number is actually higher than that. The reason I bring that up is because there will also be new Amazon delivery drivers who will work as independent contractors, similar to Uber or Lyft drivers.

There are lots of Uber, Uber Eats, Lyft, Spark (for Walmart), Instacart, DoorDash, and other delivery drivers here in East Texas. It will be interesting to see if more drivers switch to Amazon or if they stay with their normal driving apps, I am sure it will mostly have to do with how much Amazon pays their independent contractors.
