It's getting warmer and anglers having been spotting Alligator Gar on the surfaces of Texas lakes, so this is a great time to share this bit of information. Texas Parks and Wildlife announced yesterday that three leased public fishing access areas are now open for white bass anglers.

One of those spots is at Chandler River Park on the Neches River above Lake Palestine.

According to TPWD, white bass are one of the most sought after game fish in Texas and they're most prevalent when they make their annual spring spawning migration into rivers above reservoirs.

The River Access and Conservation Area program opened three free public access sites for the best white bass runs in the lone star state.

  • Chandler River Park on Neches River above Lake Palestine
  • Grand Bluff Boat Ramp on the Sabine River downstream from Black Shoals
  • Kingsland Slab RV Camp on the Llano River above Lake LBJ

Get your gear out and get to fishin'!

Stephen Magnelia, TPWD Studies Program Director said:

All three rivers are known for their excellent white bass runs. And March through early May is the prime time to target this species.
