To our listeners and readers:

Today marks the beginning of a new era in East Texas radio. It pays homage to a rich past, but at the same time points to a new beginning that we think you'll love. So, we hope you take this ride with us.

The KKTX-FM tower sent out its first signal in 1983. After 30 years we have heard various genres of music broadcast out of our tower in Kilgore, Texas. But over the past two decades we have affiliated KKTX with "96X," once an all-classic rock station that evolved into a station that broadcast classic rock in the morning and active rock the rest of the day.

First: our new beginning. Starting today, 96X is no more. We are moving forward with a new opportunity to carry a new brand along with a great music experience, featuring the greatest rock music of our time. We're bringing back all classic rock, all the time.

So, we'd like to welcome you to the new Classic Rock 96.1: Texas' Best Rock.

What will be different with our on-air shows? In short, not much. John Boy and Billy's Big Show will still play in the morning every Monday-Saturday from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. Don Jones and Chris Ryan will follow from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., respectively. Don also will be on from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday.

Bill Lee, who you would hear on Sundays on 96X, is taking over the nights during the week, going on from 7 p.m. to midnight on weekdays, and will do 2 to 7 p.m. Saturdays.

We're also adding some great new syndicated programming, including "In the Studio With Red Beard" on Sunday mornings, and "Time Warp With Bill St. James" on Sunday nights.

As for the music, there's no other way to say it other than you'll dig it. The greatest names in rock and roll all in one place: Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Who, The Eagles, ZZ Top, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and so many more.

And you can find Texas' Best Rock anywhere: on your radio, right here on our website or through the RadioPup app on your iPhone or Android.

We hope you enjoy the all-new Classic Rock 96.1 and ClassicRock961.com. Take a look around at our brand new website. You'll find great news on all things classic rock, goings-on in East Texas, awesome contests and much more.

As always, we welcome your feedback. Contact us here or like us on Facebook, anytime.

Thank you for being a part of this with us.
