Brandon Belt has had a great career in Major League Baseball playing first base for the San Francisco Giants, including a World Series Championship. Now he holds a MLB record.

During the top of the first inning of their 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels, Belt faced off against Angels starting pitcher Jaime Barria for 21 pitches.

The previous record was set in 1998 when Houston Astros Ricky Gutierrez faced off against Cleveland Indians Bartolo Colon for 20 pitches according to ESPN.

Unfortunately for Belt, the at bat ended in a line out to right field. But both the crowd and the Giants dug out was much very into the battle.

Here is the pitch chart for the at bat.

The at bat lasted 12 minutes and 45 seconds.

Angels catcher, Martin Maldonado said Belt told him during the at bat, "He actually said that he hates when someone else does that. Belt said that."

Belt explained his comment saying, "If I'm in the field and somebody does it, I can't stand it, but I wasn't going to give in. I basically had to apologize to everybody after that.''

Belt homered in the fifth inning during a nine pitch at bat.

If you have 15 minutes, watch the full at bat in the video above.
