The farthest thing from our kids' mind right now is school; they're focused on summer vacation plans, swimming, hanging out with friends and just being kids! Right now, we're basically one-third of the way through summer and pretty soon we'll be buying school supplies and uniforms and packing their lunch to send them off to continue learning. A new event is coming to Tyler to help parents and students get ready for new school year called "#SchoolisCool" and will be held at Harvey Hall on Thursday, August 14th from 5p - 8p. It's a free event for students in all grades and will feature the following:

  • Free health screenings
  • Immunizations (call for details)
  • A school uniform fashion show by Goodwill
  • Presentations by the Tyler Fire and Police Departments
  • Fingerprinting
  • Dental screenings and education
  • Health & wellness information
  • Nutrition activities
  • Local after school programs
  • Extracurricular activities
  • College prep
  • Help applying for school lunch programs and transportation

#SchoolisCool is a partnership event between the City of Tyler, the Northeast Public Health District, Tyler Independent School District, Tyler Council PTA and others. You may call 903.592.1661 ext. 252 for more details or visit the School is Cool Tyler website.
