Though no official announcement has been made, producer John Shanks tweeted about starting the project last week and shared a photograph of Eddie Van Halen's distinctive guitar amp. Shanks, who has recorded albums with Bon Jovi, Jane's Addiction and Fleetwood Mac, had been rumored as the producer for the new album for some time.

It won't be a full-on band reunion since bassist Michael Anthony is still absent from the group.  He was replaced by Eddie's son, Wolfgang, in 2007.

What do you think about a reunion album?  Good idea or not?   Are you looking forward to it?
