Noel Gallagher: Oasis Wouldn’t Reform to Help Starving Children

Give it a rest, British press. Once again, Noel Gallagher has emphatically denied that Oasis are going to reunite. In a new interview, the guitarist and songwriter made it clear, in no uncertain terms, that he is done working with his brother, Liam.

“Not even if all the starving children in the world depended on it,” he told NME. “I know it’s the done thing these days and what people do, but it’s not what I do. I know bands reform and ‘They’re bigger than they ever were’ and ‘They’re more successful than they ever were’, but Oasis were one of the biggest bands in the world.”

Noel’s words were in response to a 2011 quote from Liam, who said he was open to the idea of Oasis getting back together in 2015 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their opus, ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory’ — an idea that originated with Noel during a rare moment of nostalgia. But Liam’s subsequent lawsuit for defamation squashed any hopes for that happening.

“He shouldn’t have f—ing tried to sue me, should he?” Noel shot back.

So there it is. Not even the idea of helping millions of of starving children can get them to put aside their differences. Besides, with Liam and Noel engaged in their respective solo careers, fans are currently getting a double dose of Gallagher. Perhaps the British media should take a lesson from the Gallaghers’ heroes and just let it be.
