Members of Metallica say their new album will contain shorter, "more to the point" songs.

Metallica songs normally consist of long, building intros with long verses. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find a Metallica song shorter than six or seven minutes long. In addition to being more focused, the new album, which drummer Lars Ulrich tells Rolling Stone they are "seven or eight songs into," will be more groove-oriented and will be a "harder version of what they were doing in the early 1990s."

As reported last week, Metallica is also working on a 3D movie for 2013. All of that being said, Metallica fans should have a lot of new material to chew on for a while!
