The sole remaining original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gary Rossington  (well, technically Ricky Medlocke is also an "original" member, but anyway), released a statement yesterday assuring fans that he is recovering comfortably following his heart attack last Thursday.

"I just wanted to thank everyone for all the well wishes and support," Rossington said. "I am feeling better and taking it one day at a time and getting excellent care and support from my doctor and family. I will be back before you know it! It's gonna take more than a lil ole heart attack to keep me down. … Much love and see you all soon!"

Following the scare, Skynyrd cancelled a pair of upcoming concerts.

In more uplifting news, a brand new Lynyrd Skynyrd live set is due out Oct. 23.  Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin'nérd & Second Helping, Live From Jacksonville At The Florida Theatre features the band performing their first two studio albums in their entirety in front of a hometown crowd.

The release will be available on DVD, Blu-Ray and digitally.
