The 2012 Scion Rock Fest is set to hit Tampa, Fla., and its free to the public. This year’s spectacle takes place on June 2, just in time for the summer swelter. Down and Sleep are set to headline the event, where 26 metal bands will perform at four different venues throughout the course of the day. The city of Tampa will never, ever be the same.

The lineup, which you can gawk at and drool over below, features both legends, like Exodus, Sick of it All and Saint Vitus, as well as up and comers and emerging acts! It’s a doom-centric bill, with the likes of Sleep and Church of Misery, but there’s also plenty of bands with head-scratching names, such as Cerebral Ballzy, which will no doubt grind your mind and your skull into a finely milled dust with their brutality.

There really is something for everyone at this headbanger’s extravaganza. It’s easily one of the most extreme lineups for a metal fest that we’ve seen in recent memory. You can’t go wrong with this sort of roster of performers, especially if you love it loud and irreverent.

To attend this free event, go here to RSVP beginning noon PT on Friday (April 20). Start making travel arrangements now, metalheads. Get ready to sweat, from the fury with which you will mosh, so be sure to pack extra deodorant and some Gold Bond powder, because you are going to need it.
