Axl Rose Talks Future Guns N’ Roses Albums, Discusses Recent Reunion With Duff McKagan
Might we be seeing some new Guns N’ Roses music anytime soon? Frontman Axl Rose addressed the topic of new music in a recent interview with Revolver for the magazine’s June/July edition. In it, he reveals that there are two potential Guns N’ Roses releases that could be on the horizon.
“We recorded a lot of things before ‘Chinese [Democracy]’ was out,” revealed Rose (and excerpted by Blabbermouth). “We’ve worked more on some of those things and we’ve written a few new things. But basically, we have what I call kind of the second half of ‘Chinese.’ That’s already recorded.”
Rose went on to add that, “Then we have a remix album made of the songs from ‘Chinese.’ That’s been done for a while, too. But after Vegas, we’re going to start looking very seriously and what we’re doing in that regard.” In mentioning Las Vegas, Rose is referring to the band’s current residency in Sin City that runs into June.
The frontman also spoke in an excerpt issued by Revolver about recently playing shows with former bassist Duff McKagan filling in for Tommy Stinson. Rose stated, “It went really well. [Duff] worked really hard on the parts and he liked playing the newer songs from ‘Chinese.’ And, you know, it’s pretty funny because we’d go to talk about certain things from ‘Use Your Illusion,’ and there’s things he doesn’t remember. There’s things I don’t remember.”
Rose adds that the Duff McKagan he recently played shows with isn’t the same guy from the ‘Appetite for Destruction’ days. He adds, “With this band, with this lineup, everybody goes out and tries to do their very best, and every guy’s on. I don’t have to tell the other guys what to do or anything, they do it on their own. They push each other really, really hard. That also pushed Duff and he liked the challenge of that.”
As for whether or not McKagan would play more shows with the band, Rose didn’t rule it out, but adds that scheduling would be the biggest factor.
