The season opener for John Tyler is Friday night at home, and we bet the crowd will be big at Rose Stadium. Fans have been waiting 9 months for the new season to kick off. Ask any pregnant mom. That’s a long time!
John Tyler has been picked to do very well this season by our friends over at ETSN.FM.
We learned last Friday just how amazing the East Texas All-Star Little League team is, when they scored 12 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Yikes! There was no way Oklahoma was going to overcome a hole that big. The East Texas team, based in Lufkin, won 14-1 at the Southwest Regional Tournament in Waco.
There have been other wins and losses in pool play over the past few days, including a big win Monday night against Colorado. If the team had lost that game, the season would have been over. They beat Colorado that night, and Louisiana yesterday to move to the final round.
This Friday, the East Texas All-Stars will play on National TV in the regional finals, for the chance to go to the Little League World Series.
A night out turned ugly last week, and those involved are still on the loose.
Police say the Longview bar fight started inside and spilled outside into the parking lot at Lodge Sports Bar and Grill on McCann Street in Longview early Friday, and that’s where one man was beaten unconscious.
A Texas Department of Public Safety officer pulled over a box truck in Jasper County early yesterday morning for a seatbelt violation, and that led to one of the biggest East Texas marijuana busts in recent history.
The IRS is warning of a new scam that targets the military.
Perhaps we’ve all been perturbed by a scam at some point in our lives, one that comes in the form of a telemarketing phone call or an email that phishes for personal and financial information. But why bother our military heroes with that type of nonsense? The criminals behind this scam may really tick off a lot of people. We’re supposed to support the troops, not con them.
When you hear the phrase, “Transit of Venus,” it sounds like it might be a band name or a good club with velvet ropes and a line out the door on a Saturday night. But it has nothing to do with pop culture. It really does have something to do with the planet Venus, and it’s a rare event that we’ll be able to witness tomorrow in Tyler.
Gotten any tattoos removed lately? If so, you’re not alone. A survey conducted by The Patient’s Guide, an online skincare reference center, shows laser tattoo removals are up by 32 percent this year compared to 2011.
