Watch Janis Joplin at Her High School Reunion in Port Arthur

It's always cool when we can see video of eras gone by. This video was loaded on Youtube in 2008 of Janis Joplin returning to her hometown of Port Arthur for her 10 year high school reunion.

If you haven't seen it, it gives a glimpse Janis being happy with her life but also the pain she still had of being an outcast growing up in Port Arthur.

And it was just seven months after this reunion that Janis was found dead of a heroin overdose.

Reporters asked many questions about her childhood. To the point you can see her almost breakdown.

She describes in the video of being a recluse in high school and how painting kept her feelings inside. It wasn't until she started singing that she could come out of her shell.

As it does as time goes by, stories start to conflict of her time in her hometown. Texas Monthly put out a great article in 1992 about her life both in and outside of Texas.

Sadly, drugs and alcohol did take over her life. It just makes you wonder what could have been.
