A Tyler Man Is In The Smith County Jail Facing Murder Charges After Police Say An Argument Turned Violent.

We're learning about an incident that took place over the weekend from a press release we received from the Smith County Sheriff's Office.

On Sunday, (January 21, 2024) at approximately 5:15 pm, the Smith County Emergency Operations Center received a 911 call concerning a stabbing that had occurred in the 400 block of County Road 34 near Tyler.

Upon arrival of Deputies, it was found that the victim had already been transported to the Christus Mother Frances Emergency Room in Tyler by family members.

The victim was identified as 43 Year Old Noe Luna of Tyler.

Unfortunately, Luna succumbed to his injuries at 7:40 pm. Smith County Investigators and the Crime Scene Unit responded to both the residence on County Road 34 and to the hospital.

During the preliminary investigation, Deputies were able to identify the stabbing suspect as 23-year old Letierus Lynn Drew of Tyler.

Witnesses Report That Drew Got Into A Physical Altercation With Luna.

Witnesses explained that Drew was not welcome inside the residence, but he allegedly forced his way in getting into a physical altercation with Noe Luna.

Drew allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Luna in the chest. Luna immediately fell to the floor and was unresponsive to family members. They immediately loaded Luna into a truck and hurriedly drove him to Christus Mother Frances ER in Tyler.

Deputies were able to call Drew out of the residence without incident and later on a warrant for the arrest of Letierus Lynn Drew for the criminal offense of Murder was issued and he was taken into custody. Bond was set at $500,000.
