Two More Retailers With East Texas Outlets File for Bankruptcy
This is starting to happen way too often. It seems like I'm writing about stores going under on a weekly basis. Earlier this week, KLTV reported on Gander Mountain & RadioShack announcing they were filing for bankruptcy & closing a number of locations nationwide.
Texas is being hit especially hard, but there's actually a little bit of good news for Tyler employees & shoppers mixed in with what's otherwise bad.
Let's start with a positive. In spite of 10 different Lone Star State Gander Mountain outlets among the 32 on the outdoor specialist's "official shutdown list", Tyler's Market Square store on South Broadway has been spared & will remain open for your hunting, fishing, & camping needs!
We've been waiting for a few days to get details on the upcoming wave of closings at long-time electronics giant RadioShack. Unfortunately today's update notes more than 350 locations across the country going out of business, with over two dozen Texas outlets not surviving.
Consumerist identifies eight East Texas RadioShacks shutting down, including their stores in Tyler's Broadway Square Mall, Palestine's Plaza Shopping Center, & Marshall's East Park Shopping Center. To make matters worse for the staffs at those locations, all are expected to lock their doors for good by the end of this month.
