Two Local BBQ Sandwiches in East Texas Named the Best in the State
Another East Texas restaurant breaks the 'Best of...' list on onlyinyourstate.com - this time it's specifically for the best BBQ sandwiches in Texas. Can you guess where it is?
If you guessed Stanley's Famous Pit BBQ, then you've obviously had one of their BBQ sandwiches. Stanley's was Number 3 on the list dubbed "The 11 Best BBQ Sandwiches in Texas and Where to Find Them", and I have to admit that Only In Your State does their due diligence when it comes to listing some of the best places to visit in the lone star state.
Texas Monthly named this sandwich the Number one BBQ sandwich in the state and it appears the reputation holds for the infamous 'Mother Clucker'. It's a tough sandwich to eat (physically) but that's because you have a whole lotta goodness going on in between those two slices of jalapeno sourdough. This includes smoked chicken thigh, cheddar, spicy BBQ mayo, bacon, fried egg and quacamole.
So if you're like me and have been chowing down on the "Ex-Wife" (sliced brisket and pulled pork), maybe you should open your taste buds for the "Mother Clucker" like everyone suggests.
There are a few other spots not too far from here where you can find the best BBQ sandwiches in Texas including this small East Texas establishment in Marshall.
- Brown Pig at Neely's in Marshall
And don't forget about a few spots west of us!
- Memphis-Style brisket sandwich at Hutchin's BBQ in McKinney
- Pitmaster at Pecan Lodge in Dallas
