Not all heroes wear capes!

Pretty soon the 2019-2020 school year will be underway for East Texas students, but two teachers from Region 7 are already being recognized for going far and beyond for their students.

Kristina Wyman from Hallsville ISD and Tammie Evans from Carthage ISD have been named Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year and will represent Region 7 as semifinalists for the 2020 Texas Teacher of The Year.

Both teachers were acknowledged by their school district for their hard work and dedication to their students and colleagues.

Hallsville ISD Superintendent Jeffery Collum spoke very highly of Mrs. Wyman for her accomplishment,

Mrs. Wyman is an excellent example of the premier quality of teachers that we have here in Hallsville ISD.  Our students, staff, parents and community couldn’t be more proud of her and this great accomplishment.

John Wink, Carthage ISD Superintendent also praised Tammie Evans saying she is a pleasure to work with,

She is driven by the needs and learning styles of her students, and she goes to great lengths to give them the most powerful learning experiences and builds excellence in every student.

Both teachers were honored at the Region 7's Teacher of the Year Luncheon on Thursday (August 8th), where they were presented with the grand prize through a random drawing from Jack O' Diamonds Honda. Evans won $5,000 and Wyman won a 2019 Honda Accord.

Now all roads lead to the TASA Headquarters in Austin as Wyman and Evans will compete against "THIRTY-EIGHT" other Regional teachers of the Year where six finalists will be chosen and the winners will be announced in October.

Congrats to Kristina and Tammie on this prestigious award.

You have definitely made us East Texans proud of your accomplishments.
