You can set a blood-curdling scream to go off through your smart speaker "in five minutes" and totally freak out your family.  Oh, this could be so much fun.

If you have trouble getting the attention of your family members at times, an incredibly loud scream out of nowhere on Halloween day should do the trick.  Just make sure your Alexa volume is up, and scare those kids out of their wits.  It'll be fun!  And then prepare yourself for payback I suppose.

There are several Alexa skills that will play spooky sounds.  Here are three of the most popular ones, and what they can do to make your house a little freakier this Halloween.

3 Ways to Make Your House Spooky Using Alexa, according to Cnet.com

1.  Spooky Halloween Sounds will play a continuous loop of spooky sounds until you tell Alexa to stop. Just say "Alexa, start Spooky Halloween Sounds" to get started.

2.  Spooky Sounds plays a continuous loop of 50 minutes of original spooky sounds. Say "Alexa, open Spooky Sounds" to launch it.

3.  Spooky Scream will play a random scream at the time you choose. Say "Alexa, ask Spooky Scream to start in five minutes."  Then crank up the volume and wait for your family to react.  This might work best if they're not even in the room when the scream happens.  I bet they'll come running.

All of these sounds might be fun on Halloween night if you have Alexa cranked up loud enough that the trick-or-treaters at the front door can hear chains dragging and doors creaking from deeper inside the house.  They might be running off after grabbing just one piece of candy instead of six, convinced that your house is haunted. But at least you'll be in the theme of it all.

If you're having a Halloween party, well, Alexa has your spooky soundtrack.  And then on Friday, it's right back to listening to our skill on your on Alexa device, because we pair well with leftover Kit Kats and Dum Dums I'm thinkin'.  We're on Alexa too, and easier on your heart rate.

Just keep that Alexa-enabled scream in your back pocket.  That could come in handy all year long.  Happy Halloween!
