Texas Officers Use New Grappler Tech to End Dangerous Chase
(KNUE-FM) It’s not exactly shocking to hear that law enforcement officers are working hard every day to keep Texas safe. These heroes don’t get enough respect for all they do. It’s encouraging to see them using new technology that can help keep everyone safer.
Details of the Splendora High-Speed Chase
The video and details about this new technology were released by KVUE, it shows a law enforcement vehicle in a high-speed chase. What makes this chase even more alarming is that there are children in the vehicle as well.
The vehicle in the video below was putting everyone in danger, as the driver was going 90 mph in a 65-mph zone. When the first officer initiated the traffic stop the driver didn’t hesitate and just started accelerating at a high rate of speed.
Officers decided that using a Grappler was the best way to ending the chase without anyone getting hurt.

What Is the Grappler Pursuit Device?
The Grappler is a vehicle-mounted pursuit intervention device that is meant to safely disable fleeing vehicles by deploying a high-strength tethered net that entangles a rear tire.

How the Grappler Improves Police Safety
After the vehicle was stopped, the suspect once again tried to flee the scene in the vehicle, but the Grappler disabled the vehicle from going anywhere. A taser was needed to stop the suspect from resisting, all children in the vehicle were unharmed.
While high speed chases can be dangerous for anyone on the road, it’s great to hear that law enforcement has new tools to shut them down quickly and safer than before.
