If you're planning a vacation to ski country, you might have to wait. Thanksgiving weekend is usually a big one for ski resorts, but most of them had to delay openings this year because of a lack of snow.
Some of the projected openings are in mid to late December now.
It's late July, temperatures are warm and there are still huge banks of snow on the ground in Buffalo, New York, left over from last November's historic snow storm! Yes, snow on the ground in July.
In the latest example of embracing winter, a man on YouTube showed the world -- and Mother Nature -- that plenty of fun can be had, despite the deep freeze a good part of the country has been suffering through the last few weeks.
Winter has definitely made its presence known here in East Texas thanks to yesterday's wintry mix of sleet, freezing rain and some light snow. The mess that fell from the skies yesterday caused a ton of delays and cancellations for schools to businesses. Now comes word that more winter weather is in the forecast for East Texas with a posted Winter Storm Warning.
Although there is rain in the forecast with a chance of severe weather for part of Saturday for East Texas, there's also snow in the forecast for one downtown street in Kilgore on Sunday!

Our Christmas became, almost in a matter of hours, a white Christmas. Out of no where we are dealing with low, low temperatures and snow sticking to the ground. For all of East Texas, this is quite a change from our 100 degree summers and mild winters. But, we have to keep in mind that we are not nearly close to how cold it can get.
