Smashing Pumpkins Releasing Remastered ‘Pisces Iscariot’ Collection
The Smashing Pumpkins and EMI Music are continuing their ambitious reissue campaign with the band’s entire catalog. The new entry into the series is the unlikely platinum-selling compilation disc, ‘Pisces Iscariot,’ which is set to be released later this month.
The Audio Perv reports that the remastered edition of ‘Pisces Iscariot’ is scheduled to be released on July 17. The album will be offered in multiple packages, including a deluxe physical set that includes a second disc featuring B-sides and live tracks, a concert DVD and the very first Smashing Pumpkins demo reproduced on cassette. Frontman Billy Corgan handpicked all the bonus content for the reissue.
‘Pisces Iscariot’ was originally released in 1994 to keep fans busy as the Smashing Pumpkins worked on the follow-up to their 1993 breakthrough album, ‘Siamese Dream.’ That eventually led to the 1995 double-disc epic ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.’ ‘Pisces Iscariot’ unexpectedly became its own success story, selling over one million copies to become certified platinum just a few months after its release. The compilation included a cover of Fleetwood Mac‘s ‘Landslide’ that became a modern rock hit single.
‘Pisces Iscariot’ will join the Smashing Pumpkins’ debut album, ‘Gish,’ and ‘Siamese Dream’ in the remastered lineup. ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’ is also on deck to be reissued, with up to three extra CDs planned for the new edition. The band is also looking forward, having just released their new album, ‘Oceania.’ Read our review to see if it lives up to the Smashing Pumpkins’ legacy here.
