(Austin, Texas) It’s amazing how fast technology is changing things here in Texas. Recently we saw Robotaxi’s released in Austin, but now there is something new and I think it’s awesome. Last week I noticed a video online of a robot walking and sometimes shuffling at almost a jogging pace down the sidewalks of Austin, Texas.

Ever since watching The Jetsons as a kid, I always thought the idea of having a robot could be great, as it could do some of the tasks we don’t enjoy doing. Now I don’t know exactly what this robot in Austin is up to, but we have a few more details thanks to KVUE.

The Robot in Austin Has a Name

Videos started popping up online in June. The robot known as “Jake” is a child-sized human-shaped robot and sometimes he wears a sign on his chest that says, “in training”.

Who Owns Jake and What is He Doing?

Jake is a G1 model created by China-based Unitree Robotics, the robot debuted last May with a $16,000 price tag.

Jake is operated by an unseen handler with a wireless controller, although no one is certain who actually owns the robot.

While no one is sure what the purpose of Jake is so far, I appreciate that no one has tried to cause damage to Jake. We will update you as we learn more about Jake.
