Richard Sherman Calls Out Roger Goodell & Patriots’ Cozy Relationship [VIDEO]
In case anyone's wondering if star Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, one of the more outspoken NFL players, has any thoughts on "Deflate-gate," well, of course he does. And the league probably doesn't like it one bit.
In a press conference, Sherman alluded to the Patriots' past, a likely reference to Spygate, suggesting there would be no upcoming punishment at all for the Patriots' alleged deflating of their side's footballs prior to their AFC-title win over the Colts last Sunday. He mentioned the fact that last Saturday, just a day before that AFC-title game, Goodell was photographed with Patriots' owner Robert Kraft at Kraft's house.
"Will they be punished? Probably not," Sherman said. "Not as long as Robert Kraft and Roger Goodell are still taking pictures at their respective homes. I think it was just at Kraft's house last week before the AFC Championship. Talk about conflict of interest."
Kraft and Goodell have a longstanding relationship, so it's not exactly an automatic indictment if the two are seen together, even outside of a football environment. But GQ has an extensive profile of Goodell up, and it includes a rather unflattering depiction of how the NFL -- and Kraft specifically -- helped guide the public-relations situation following the Ray Rice domestic-violence saga earlier this season. You'll remember that didn't go so well.
Just the kind of stuff the NFL wants everyone talking about in the week leading up to the Super Bowl.
