According to many sources, including Fox Sports, Joe Paterno has been fired from his position as head coach of the Penn State football team amidst the child sex scandal that has plagued the school and football program.

The Penn State University's trustees announced late Wednesday night that it had ousted school president Graham Spanier and legendary head football coach Joe Paterno amid a child sex abuse scandal under their watch involving a former assistant coach.

Earlier in the day, Paterno said he would retire at the end of the football season, but the winningest coach in FBS history has been fired, effective immediately.
