One of America’s 11 Youngest Billionaires is a Texan
Texas Is Where The Money Resides Due To The Fact That Several Billionaires Call The Lone Star State Home.
We told you earlier this year when Forbes released their list of the 400 richest people in America that Texas is THIRD in the nation with the most billionaires. More than 60% of the 775 billionaires who reside in the U.S. live in California (179), New York (130), Texas (73) and Florida (92).
It's a known fact that most billionaires are older with decades of work (or inheritance) under their belt but there are a few that are considered pretty young. How young? Let's go about 40-something.
Of the 400 richest Americans, only four are under the age of 40, just 1% of the list.
This marked the lowest percentage of members on the annual list in at least two decades, according to Forbes. Four people who were on last year's list have dropped off.
The fall of share prices for Snap Inc. kicked co-founders Bobby Murphy and Evan Spiegel down the ranks. FTX co-founders Sam Bankman-Fried and Gary Wang also appeared on the list in 2022 but have fallen off after the company went bankrupt amid allegations of fraud.
But There's Only One Texan On The Youngest Billionaires List.
You may not know who Joe Gebbia is but you may have heard of the company he co-founded or used his company's service before: AirBnB. Gebbia, along with his co-founders, Brian Chesky and Nathan Blecharczyk launched the company in 2008 and all of them are now on the Forbes 400 list.
At just 42 years of age, Gebbia is worth $8.9 Billion Dollars. The website Stacker compiled a list of the youngest billionaires in the Forbes 400 and Gebbia is the "oldest" of the 11 while the youngest billionaire in America is 37-year-old Lukas Walton grandson of Walmart Inc. co-founder Sam Walton.
