This year at The Ballpark in Arlington there’s a new item on the menu for Rangers fans to get their heart burn from.

Team president, Nolan Ryan announced that a one-pound, two-foot long, $26 chili-cheese dog will be available to I can only assume families of four to purchase. But what’s more surprising  about this surprisingly over-sized frankfurter is in an interview Ryan referred to it as a “tremendous wiener.” His reference of course transported normally civilized, well-spoken men like myself back in time to giggling, prepubescent boys.

I think that was Ryan’s intent. Come one now — each word he chose to describe the new tube-steak was undoubtedly carefully calculated and premeditated to make us feel like kids again. And I appreciate it, thanks Mr. Ryan!

Here’s what he said in the interview with ESPNDallas:

When [Rangers Executive Vice President, Communications] John Blake came in and told me that Sportservice had announced that yesterday, I asked him how big the wiener was. He didn’t know. But it has to be a tremendous wiener. And then we’re getting some kind of exotic bread flown in from France. And I don’t know what kind of condiments you put on that. But I do want to look at it.

But regardless, the new “Boomstick” named after outfielder Nelson Cruz will be available for you to purchase next time you head to The Ballpark in Arlington.

Ya’ gotta love baseball and wiener jokes to make you feel like a kid again. Can’t wait for baseball season.
