Another National Lampoon’s ‘Vacation’ Movie Is on the Way
The iconic National Lampoon’s ‘Vacation’ comedy franchise is getting a sixth installment that continues the Griswold family saga.
The writers behind current box office hit ‘Horrible Bosses’ are penning a script depicting the grown-up adventures of Clark and Ellen Griswold’s son, Rusty (Anthony Michael Hall). The role was formerly played by Hall in the original ‘Vacation’ and later by actors Jason Lively (‘European Vacation’), Johnny Galecki (‘Christmas Vacation’), Ethan Embry (‘Vegas Vacation’) and Travis Greer (in the web short ‘Hotel Hell Vacation’).
“[Rusty's] a kind of an everyman, goodhearted, maybe a little bit of a doofus,” writer Jonathan Goldstein said. Co-writer John Francis Daley added, “The thing that made the first film so successful was Chevy Chase and just how likable Clark was, and Rusty will have a lot of similarities to him.”
The new film may even feature Rusty bumping into his parents — Clark (Chase) and Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo) – to bring things full-circle.
No word yet on when we can expect to see the film in theaters, so take a look back at the trailer from the classic 1983 original:
