I was talking earlier today with one of my best friends, and the subject of music commercials from the 90s came up randomly. I immediately jumped on YouTube and was pleasantly surprised to find them all intact in their cheesy glory.

Here are some of my favorites.

Monster Ballads was one of the first ones I thought of. Who could forget the announcer's attempts at sounding tough while pointing out how sensitive all these rockers are. My favorite line is when he says, "..they taught us how to love."

No. No they didn't. But they did help get the make-out sesh going.

Monsters of Rock is one I remember seeing the most. I'm not sure what happened to my cassettes, which got plenty of use when I was cruising in my Camaro.

Pure Moods is what really got the conversation started. We were trying to remember the name of the hye-ya-ya-woah-ieeeeaaa song (Return to Innocence). This commercial was the only time I ever remember listening to Enya. Who could forget that awesome techno/dance version of the X Files theme?

I had to include a Time Life video. Here's the commercial for Sounds of the 80s. You could get on CD or double length cassette. I had to find this one because of the clip from Men At Work's video for 'Who Can It Be Now.' Those eyes have haunted me since the first time I saw them.

My kids will never understand the appeal that these collections had, which is probably a could thing for my credit card.

By the way, I tried going to the website listed in some of them and I didn't see anywhere to order any of these compilations.

Here are the top 25 hits of the ‘80s based on their overall popularity.
