Most Wanted Sex Offender Captured in East Texas

A Tyler man wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and indecent exposure was taken into custody after he was recognized at a homeless shelter in Longview.

57-year-old Michael Wayne Hopson was arrested without incident and taken to the Gregg County jail after agents from the Texas DPS Criminal Investigations spotted him having lunch at a soup kitchen in Longview.

No tip was involved in this apprehension and no reward will be paid.

Hopson’s criminal history includes four charges of indecent exposure. He is wanted for a 2010 indecent exposure in Payne County, Okla., and failure to comply with sex offender registration in Anderson County, Texas.
