East Texas Seniors Need Food Donations Now
(KNUE-FM) We all know that people in East Texas work hard and try to take care of each other. It’s pretty incredible when you see communities in East Texas coming together to assist others and that there is a need once again as Meals on Wheels East Texas is asking for food donations for seniors.
Why East Texas Seniors Need Donations Now
Recently, there has been some wild weather conditions including ice that made it difficult for some people to leave their homes. In fact, Meals on Wheels wasn’t able to deliver food for two days because of the hazardous road conditions. While we cannot control the weather, we can help by stocking up on shelf-stable food items to make sure seniors in East Texas have the food they need.

Counties Served by Meals on Wheels East Texas
Meals on Wheels East Texas serves multiple counties including Gregg, Henderson, Smith, Van Zandt, Upshur, and Wood counties. And there are a few items specifically that would be very helpful if you’re thinking about making a donation.
The needed items include:
- Tuna pouches
- Raisins (individual boxes)
- Juice Boxes
- Individually Wrapped Crackers
Beyond just food, these donations show the seniors in our community that they are cared for, valued, and not forgotten. That is very powerful for some seniors who can feel alone.
