Over The Last Few Years, We've Come Across A Few "Knockoff" Texas Brands That Have Opened Up Shop South Of The Border.

As the famed Beaver continues its takeover of America with more and more locations being added seemingly every year, in Mexico, we've seen a few examples of businesses using the branding of popular Texas brands with a slight name change here and there.

I think its hilarious while the business owners, usually huge corporations, aren't laughing and have sent "cease and desist" letters to these businesses demanding that they change their similar looks.

First, There Was "Buk-II's"....

Last year, photos of a store that was being built in Matamoros Tamaulipas which is 10 minutes south of the Los Indios Texas International Bridge, began going viral all across social media.

The store called "Buk-II's" featured a similar look to "Buc-ee's" and after its story went viral, the REAL Buc-ee's sent a "cease and desist" order and the weird character they designed similar to the "beaver" was removed.

Then We Came Across "Guataburger".

Also located in Matamoros, you'll find a familar orange and white striped burger joint with a different name. The owner says that they started the business in 2021 and despite being compared to "Whataburger" the restaurant has received more positive reviews than negative for their spin on burgers.

We don't know if they are still in business or if Whataburger got mad and told them to change to, but another "look-alike" has been spotted in Mexico.

TikTok user @belesitaa01 came across a truck stop over 500 miles south of San Antonio in Estacion Manuel, Tamaulipas, Mexico. The store appears to have the same font as Buc-ee's, with a woodland critter looking off into the distance. However, Buc-ee the Beaver has been replaced by Luc-ky the Raccoon.

According to SA.com Buc-ee's general counsel and spokesperson Jeff Nadalo stated the company has "No comment" when asked about Luc-ky's. But if you find yourself in Mexico, go check it out.
