Lollapalooza 2012 should be quite the music event, and even if you can’t make the festival, so long as you’re in the Chicago area there will be plenty of performances going on to make your August 3 weekend worthwhile.

Organizers have revealed the scheduling details for all three days of Lollapalooza 2012 as well as all of the after shows going on in Chicago, giving acts yet another way to reach out to the Windy City’s music lovers. As with many festival events, there will always be some interesting set time conflicts that leave you with a difficult choice to make.

Friday night (August 3) offers an interesting choice at the evening’s finale, where music lovers get to pick between seeing the Black Keys — one of the hottest live acts right now — and Black Sabbath performing their only U.S. reunion date. Other potential conflicts include the 6:00 hour ,where Band of Skulls, Passion Pit and the Shins overlap.

Saturday’s biggest scheduling challenge comes during the 4:00 hour, when Temper Trap, Alabama Shakes, fun., rapper B.o.B. and rising folk rockers the Dunwells all ask for your attention.

Sunday’s 6:00 hour also is a bit of a logjam with Florence + the Machine, At the Drive-In and Icelandic breakout act Of Monsters and Men competing for audience members.

However, if you’re unable to catch one of those bands, there still might be an opportunity to see them at some point, as a lot of the Lollapalooza acts have scheduled “after party” shows throughout the weekend. Alabama Shakes, the Temper Trap, Passion Pit, Dr. Dog, White Rabbits, Of Monsters and Men and more are all taking part.
