As Labor Day 2012 approaches, East Texans are looking for things to do that will help ease the pain at the pump, but will still allow for a fun weekend. Here’s a list of openings and closings on Memorial Day, as well as a list of fun things going on around East Texas..

Labor Day Celebration at Historic Jefferson Railway – Celebrate Labor Day on August 30 and September 1 at The Historic Jefferson Railway and enjoy a picnic of hot dogs and chips and a free prize from our Treasure Chest.  Come see the Support Our Troops display that honors the United States Military. Active Military personnel ride free.

Banks: Closed

City Offices: Closed

Lake Tyler: Open all day

Lake Palestine: Open all day

Libraries: Closed

Post Office: Closed

Schools: Closed

Trash Pick Up: Will resume Tuesday, September 4

Tyler State Park: Open all day

Caldwell Zoo: Normal hours.

Walmart: Open — regular hours

Target: Open — regular hours

Brookshire’s: Open — regular hours
