What Were The Worst Officiating Calls in Dallas Cowboys History
If you saw the Saturday Night Football game between the Detroit Lions & the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium, then you know exactly what people are talking about: that controversial ending where the refs reversed their decision on the Lions' 2 point conversion. This resulted in the game ending with a Cowboys win, 20-19. As a result, the ref crew is expected to NOT participate in the postseason games.
Whether you thought the call was correct or not, that's up to you. And this being the NFL, this is NOT the first time a controversial call has been made, especially involving the Cowboys. There have been some BAD calls made that have both helped & hurt the Cowboys in their career.
2014 NFC Wild Card Round vs the Detroit Lions
Yes nearly 10 years ago, these two teams would face off in a very controversial playoff game. The Lions were denied a pass interference call in the 4th quarter. The Cowboys would come back and win at home; 24-20.
The very next round however... things would turn on the Cowboys.
2014 NFC Divisional Round vs the Green Bay Packers
This game is felt by Cowboys fans everywhere & it changed the world of NFL. After this game, the NFL made some changes to the rule book after this stating: "If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone". As a result, the Cowboys would lose to the Packers, 26-21.
This rule has been nicknamed: The Dez Bryant Rule.
2019 Week 12 vs the New England Patriots
Why is this game considered controversial? 1 word... tripping. That's all I need to say. In Week 12 on November 24 during the 2019-2020 season, Travis Frederick for the Cowboys would receive not a call against the New England Patriots in Foxborough. Needless to say, people were NOT happy about the tripping call online. The Patriots would win 13-9.
2021 Thanksgiving Game vs the Las Vegas Raiders
When talking about the worst officiating game in Cowboys history, the Cowboys Reddit page seems to agree that THIS game was the worst one. The flag called on Michael Gallup, the non holding calls & offside penalties on Micah Parsons were the main reasons why this game is looked down upon (unless you're a Raiders fan).
The Raiders would beat the Cowboys in OT; 36-33
Now I'm not saying these calls were the right ones but until the NFL decides to do something about these calls that we see on a (what seems like) weekly basis, we will definitely see more of these calls be made in the future.
