Unfortunately for singles in the Lone Star state, dating is terrible, and now there's data to prove it! Texas has ranked as one of the worst states for dating.

That's at least according to this in-depth study from Spokeo, that ranked the best states for singles in the country. Texas didn't come out in the top ten, it didn't even make the top 25!

Texas ranked all the way at the bottom at number 45! The study, which was conducted in April of this year, compared eight ranking factors across all 50 states. The factors included:

  • Percent of never-married adults above 15 per state
  • Confidence/romance crime victims per state per capita
  • Mental health providers per state per capita
  • Unemployment rate per state
  • Cost of living annual average
  • States most likely to ghost you
  • Formal volunteers per state per capita
  • Registered voters per state per capita

All factors that are very important when you're dating, however, one other factor that played into this study was ghosting. Spokeo referred to a different survey on the states most likely to ghost you and, of course, Texas got a terrible score for that- they got a 41!

You can check out the entire study here- but I think that many of my fellow singletons in Texas would agree that dating can be quite the rollercoaster no mater where you are! It could be worse, though- we could be Florida, which actually ranked in at number 50!
