Of all the things I love most about Texas, food has got to be at the very top of my list!

In Texas, we sure know how to make some terrific food; and the barbeque is top tier! I'm also always amazed at all the different food creations Texans come up with! First, it was a sausage sundae, which looks amazing!

Then, we learned about a BBQ parfait, which I still need to find a restaurant near me that makes one!

Well, today I bring to you what could most definitely be your newest obsession: Texas Twinkies. Yes, you read that right, and if you're expecting a sweet treat, well, you are in for a surprise!

So, what the heck is a Texas Twinkie?

Texas Twinkies are a popular and super trendy BBQs delicacy- sometimes they are referred to as an "armadillo egg". Texas Twinkies are jalapeños that are stuffed with a mixture of brisket and cream cheese, then wrapped in bacon and smoked until the bacon is crispy and the filling is hot and melty. The result is a flavorful combination of smoky, spicy, creamy, and savory tastes! Seriously, it sounds like a flavor explosion!

Texas Twinkies are certainly not what I was expecting but I definitely cannot wait to get my hands on some. Apparently this delicacy is more of a Central Texas thing, which is why here in El Paso, I didn't find many restaurants that served them. But if anything, this is a call to our favorites to come up with something like this- I'm looking at you State Line, Desert Oak, Rib Hut and Tony's the Pit!
