Palo Duro Canyon
One place that we know firsthand is an EXCELLENT place for stargazing is the Palo Duro Canyon in Canyon, Texas just 25 miles from Amarillo. If the view of the canyons or the hiking trails doesn't capture your eye, then the Milky Way will.

Enchanted Rock
Fredericksburg, Texas is home to the Enchanted Rock State Park; home of the magical, enchanted rock that people love to hike. If the photo of the night sky isn't proof of its stargazing glory, here's a timelapse video too.
Brazos Bend State Park
The Brazos Bend State Park in Needville, Texas is a great place for gazing at the stars. You can enjoy the night sky from out in the park or inside the George Observatory, which is also pretty neat too.
Copper Breaks State Park
Our next stop is the Copper Breaks State Park in Quanah, Texas. A great place for horseback riding, fishing & boating too. Nothing like swimming or fishing under the Texas stars...

Of course there are MANY more places that you can stargaze; the Texas Parks & Wildlife website listed some of the best national parks in the state. Also the International Dark Sky Association has some other places you can find near you.
